Mithali Raj has been the captain of the Indian Women's cricket team in Test and ODI formats between  2004 to 2022.

In 1999, Maithali Raj made her debut at the age of 16 in the One day international(ODI) against Ireland and scored an unbeaten 114 runs.

In 2002, at the age of 19 , she broke the record of world's highest individual test score by scoring a 214 against England at Taunton.

Mithali Raj is the first captain for India (both men's and women's) to reach the ICC ODI World Cup final twice in 2005 and 2017. 

Mithali Raj was honored with : - Arjuna Award in 2003 - Padma Shri  in 2015  - Vogue Sportsperson of the year in 2017 -Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2021 

"Shabaash Mithu", a film about Mithali Raj and her life, starring Taapsee pannu will be released on July 15 2022.
