The remains of the 31-year-old suspect’s missing girlfriend were discovered in a landfill in Oregon, leading to his arrest.

Kaylee Birdzell was reported missing on August 5, according to a statement from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

On the second day after the murder, detectives learned that the 27-year-old woman’s body had been dumped in the dumpster of an apartment complex.

Authorities found Birdzell’s body on August 9 during a search of the Corvallis landfill known as Coffin Butte.

The young woman’s death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy was performed the following day. How exactly she died is unknown.
