NEW AND UNIQUE — Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, will host a fundraiser at his Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey for Ken Paxton, the attorney general of Texas who is running against a liberal Democratic opponent in the upcoming midterm elections.

On Sunday, the Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas released a poll showing that Paxton has a 3-point lead over political newcomer Rochelle Garza. In 2018, Trump and Donald Trump Jr. both backed the attorney general, who had already served two terms in the position.

For this election, Trump’s backing was crucial in Paxton’s primary battle victory over Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush.

I think a lot of Republicans have had enough of it,” Paxton said in a radio interview earlier this year. Those Bushes have had their opportunities. The dynasty must now come to an end. Someone needs to take charge and refuse to give in to the status quo.

Trump will host a dinner reception, after-party at a private home, and golf outing for major donors at the September 1 fundraiser.

The highest-priced ticket is $50,000, which includes a photo opportunity with Trump and access to a special roundtable discussion. The identities of the others who were present were kept secret.

Attorney General Ken Paxton has been bravely on the front line in the fight for Texas and against the vicious and very dangerous Radical Left Democrats and the foolish and unsuspecting RINOs that are destroying our country,” Trump said of Paxton during the primary, which he tweeted.

Paxton angered his detractors by writing an opinion that considered transgender procedures for minors to be abusive, and by filing 31 lawsuits against the Biden administration over its border policies. According to Paxton’s office, Texas prevailed in more than 90% of these cases.

Paxton is also looking into the social media firms that the police believe facilitate cross-border human smuggling.

A former ACLU lawyer, Garza has been a vocal opponent of Texas’s restrictive abortion laws. ABC8 reported that she has worked on cases involving immigrant rights and is against Republican efforts to build a border wall.

Recent months have seen nearly $520,000 donated to Garza’s campaign, compared to $340,000 for Paxton. According to the Washington Examiner, Paxton’s campaign has access to a $3.5 million war chest.

Trump, meanwhile, has been in the news himself since last week, when the FBI raided his Palm Beach, Florida, home in search of classified documents. During the early hours of the morning, agents were able to seize 20 boxes. Trump has kept up his nationwide campaign rallies for GOP candidates.
