FLORIDA’S MIAMI GARDENS (AP) — A person with knowledge of the issue revealed that tight end Adam Shaheen is back with the Miami Dolphins after his trade to the Houston Texans was canceled because he failed a physical.

According to the source who spoke Thursday to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because neither side made the trade cancellation public, Shaheen was flagged for having a prior knee problem.

The initial conditions of the transaction, according to the Dolphins, was for them to get a 2023 seventh-round pick and a sixth-round pick from Houston in exchange for Shaheen.

Shaheen’s injury had not prevented him from participating in any Dolphins training camp workouts.

Since being traded from Chicago to the Dolphins on July 26, 2020, he has participated in 28 games, starting 12. Shaheen has appeared in 55 games with 50 catches and 7 touchdowns over the course of parts of five NFL seasons.
