Guardians of the Galaxy gets a press conference from Mustard

Last week, the High-A Lake County condiment was optioned to the Guardians after he went 0-50 in MLB races.

It’s interesting that there wasn’t a corresponding roster change.

Mustard, 17, “has struggled at a historic pace this season,” the Guardians said when they demoted him on August 8. “Mustard has failed to secure a victory in any of the first 50 Sugardale Hot Dog races at Progressive Field in 2022” (one race was rained out). “The Guardians have demoted the tantrum-throwing condiment to the Lake County Captains, their High-A affiliate, in an effort to improve his mental and physical performance and return him to Major League Baseball contention. On Monday, he will report to the Captains so that he can compete in Tuesday’s race.”

In between Monday’s contests in downtown Cleveland, Mustard held a brief but hilarious press conference that was tweeted out:

Fans may be curious as to whether or not Mustard was successful in his first day back with the Guardians. As unfortunate as it was for him, his losing streak continued right where it had left off:

Meanwhile, the Guardians entered the night with three-game leads over both the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central.
