SWITZERLAND (AP) — The Indian soccer federation was suspended Monday night “due to undue influence from third parties,” FIFA said.

The Under-17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in India from October 11-30, has been put in jeopardy by the suspension of the All India Football Federation.

A serious breach of the FIFA Statutes has resulted in an immediate suspension, FIFA said.

In the words of the AIFF: “The suspension will be lifted once an order to set up a committee of administrators to assume the powers of the AIFF executive committee has been repealed and the AIFF administration regains full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs, “FAI said.

Unfortunately, FIFA has announced that India will not be hosting the Women’s Under-17 World Cup.

FIFA has been in “constant constructive contact” with India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and they are holding out hope that the case can be resolved favorably.”
