Atlético Madrid scored three goals by the 66th minute, and that gives them a commanding lead going into the rest of their first-leg battle.

receiving another superb assist from the Portugal youngster.

Atlético’s head coach, Diego Simeone, gushed, “He is doing well, he works hard.” “We’d love to have him here at the club for the long haul.”

In the 75th minute, Griezmann came off the bench to score the game-winning goal with a long-range effort.

Last season, Atlético came in third place in the Spanish league, behind winners Barcelona and runners-up Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid football team defeated the newly promoted Almera 2-1 on the road on Sunday, while the Barcelona football team drew 0-0 at home against the Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

The return of Ernesto Valverde to the Basque Country club Athletic Bilbao ended in a scoreless draw against Mallorca.

Athletic was the better team from the start, but they were unable to score. At San Mamés Stadium, the home team attempted more than 20 times.

After a two-year coaching hiatus following his departure from Barcelona in 2020, Valverde has returned for a third stint as Athletic’s manager.

Last season, the Basque club only placed eighth, so they did not qualify for any European competitions. Mallorca finished just one point above the drop zone, narrowly avoiding relegation.

A later time, Real Betis will host Elche. Betis finished in fifth place last season after a strong campaign.
