The former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib’s brother, Yaqub Talib, turned himself in to Lancaster, Texas police on Monday.

Talib was sought after in relation to the Saturday shooting death of youth football coach Mike Hickmon. After Talib turned himself in to police, his lawyer gave a statement to KDFW.

“My client is eager to tell his side of the story in court on the scheduled date. Birdsall remarked, “He regrets this awful loss of life.

Police described the incident as the result of “a conflict between the coaching staff and the officiating crew.” The verbal argument eventually turned physical, and a shot was fired.

As coaches for one of the competing teams, both Talib brothers were present at the shooting scene.
